KnotStressed Training Testimonials

Here’s some of the feedback we’ve received from people that have attended a KnotStresssed Training course over the years:

“I attended the 3 day post graduate Pregnancy Massage Therapy Workshop with Onie and thoroughly enjoyed the course. March/April 2017.
I would highly recommend this course to any therapist working with this client group. Onie is highly motivated and supports the class through the theory and practical with a wonderful energy.”

“I had a fantastic 1-to-1 day learning advanced hands-free techniques. I felt Onie was very perceptive and clear with her guidance so I learnt a lot in one day. Lovely chilled out place to be too.”

— 10 May 2017 | Helen Crowley

“Attended both training courses in pregnancy and postnatal massage. Lots of brilliant techniques, guidance and advice on how to work with women throughout their pregnancy and beyond. Lovely, relaxed environment to learn and a patient teacher in Onie! Would definitely recommend both courses to anyone looking to specialize in this area.”

“I recently attended the Relax and Sing Baby Massage and Yoga course to become an instructor and would absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking of hosting their own Baby massage course. Onie, our instructor had a wonderful way of delivering the course with a light hearted tone, encouraging us to ask questions and build our confidence in a safe space. The course itself was very well structured with time for the information to assimilate, questions to be answered and wider discussion topics addressed helping us to feel more confident in providing our future courses to the ‘real’ world. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone thinking of attending. Ailsa Moir – Nutrio Pilates, Dundee”

“I attended the 3 day pregnancy massage training recently. I would highly recommend it to other massage therapists. Onie provided a really thorough overview of working with pregnant clients and some really great techniques that are also applicable to non-pregnant clients. It has given me the confidence to work with this client group.
A lot of food for thought in terms of body dynamics and hands free massage too. Although hands free massage is a completely different course, Onie still shared some principles and techniques which I am using. I’ll be back for the hands free course.”

“I have recently completed Part One of the Hands Free Massage Training with Onie at KnotStressed Therapies. What a wonderful, informative and useful course! Onie is an excellent teacher, explaining everything so well and allowing us to learn so much in a relaxed and encouraging environment. The course emphasis is very practical, allowing us to learn a wide range of new techniques over the course of a weekend. Fabulous to have learned new techniques to bring to treatments which protect the therapist’s body well. Highly recommended.”

“I recently completed the Relax and Sing Baby Massage and Yoga Instructors Training Course with Onie and it was such a fantastic experience. Onie is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable and has relaxing and calm manner in the way she delivers the course content. She oozes enthusiasm and passion both when teaching the training course and when taking a class and these qualities are extremely contagious when in her company. I really enjoyed the informal and relaxed approach of the course. We weren’t overburdened with theory and instead were treated to the practical hands on learning approach. The practical class on the last day with real babies and their parents was the highlight for me.
I can’t wait to put all the fabulous techniques into practice on my wee one and then when the time is right I feel confident about running my own courses. I can’t recommend this course enough and am very excited about the next experience I have with Onie and the KnotStressed team. Thanks again.”

“I did the pregnancy massage training course with Onie and I can’t recommend it enough. It is a very thorough course – a lot to take in in one weekend – but Onie is a great teacher! I definitely hope to do more courses with Knot Stressed in the future.”

“I have just completed the Level 1 Hands Free course with Onie. She is a fantastic Teacher. Very patient, thorough and clear with her instruction. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and have already tentatively started using some of the techniques I learned last weekend!
I would recommend this course to any Therapist. The Hands Free techniques are very effective but soothing at the same time. The client I tried them on this morning loved it compared to fingers and knuckles.”

Thank you Onie!

It has enhanced both my professional and personal life. I would highly recommend the course to all parents to-be and to midwives, birth educators and doulas alike.”

“I recently completed the Relax and Sing Baby Massage and Yoga Instructors Training course with Onie and it was a truly wonderful experience! I thoroughly enjoyed the pace of the course, the informal approach (very practical-focused with just the right amount of theory). Onie’s professionalism and experience has meant that I now feel confident going out and running my own courses and can’t wait to get started! The new Knotstressed premises are in a great location and are lovely too, tea/coffee and nibbles are always on offer and very welcome indeed – lovely touch! Thanks again for everything! ”

“I did the Relax and Breathe Birthing Instructor training course with Onie in January 2016. I have to say the whole experience was fantastic. As a qualified midwife I spent two (and a half) days learning the Instructor training and I have really shopped around for this, I mean obsessive internet trawling, weighing up all the courses and companies available to train with. I chose this course and travelled from the far away lands of Nottingham and it was absolutely worth it.

I came away with renewed belief in the possibility of a relaxed, calm birth and the confidence to teach precious skills for birth to women and couples, either on a one to one basis or in a group. It’s great because there is no strict routine to the course content, it is flexible and you can present it in a way which suits you best.

Onie and Jenny have put together a jam packed curriculum that promotes a calm natural birth experience with practical skills in breathing, relaxation, visualisations, affirmations, anchoring and grounding techniques, massage, shiatsu and active birth positions. What more could you possibly want? They provide excellent communication and follow on support, including all supplementary material needed to get started.

I’m so, so grateful that they have been so generous with all their knowledge and information gathering, for both myself as a trainer and for the couples who will attend for Relax and Breathe Birthing.”

“I recently completed the Pregnancy Massage course with Onie, all i can say is WOW!!! It was 3 days of hard work and we had a lot to learn but it was a fun packed 3 days which were filled with meeting new people, sharing experiences and doubts and adapting techniques that we all use everyday as therapists. Onie is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made each one of us feel at ease.

It was so amazing getting the opportunity to work on a “mum to be” and her bump at the end of the course.

My daughter and I have booked for the baby massage course running this weekend which we are both so excited about and I’m already contemplating what other courses i can book up to do.

I would definitely recommend Knot Stressed Therapies for training.”

“My sister and I booked onto the 3 day KnotStressed Relax & Sing Baby Massage Instructor course earlier this month and are ecstatic that we did! We were (understandably!) a little apprehensive about learning such a new skill, however Onie’s delivery of the course was simply superb. She provided a relaxed and informal setting and, although the course was very practical, there was also lot’s of theory which helped to break the course up and provide an opportunity to absorb the previous elements. The course materials provided (handouts, oils, DVD, CD and massage doll!) were professional and excellent quality and as well as delivering the course, Onie provided invaluable information and advice on how to transfer our learning into a business. Prior to booking with Onie, I researched many similar courses and chose to go with Knot Stressed as, on paper, the course was by far the best value for money. Now, having completed the course I cannot recommend Onie and KnotStressed highly enough.””

“What a wonderful course! Our tutor, Onie, was excellent – very professional and created a relaxed, informative and supportive environment for us to learn. I have been given all the tools, confidence and support needed to become a successful instructor. On the last day we were given the opportunity to run a practice session in a ‘real’ environment with some lovely parents and babies which was invaluable.
My classes are going really well. Relax and Sing Classes is probably the best move I have made work wise! Mums and wee ones really love the style of the classes and I think the material that you’ve given us is amazing. And it’s really lovely to see new mums (and babies!) making friends in class and bonding with their wee ones. Thank you so much!””

“I’m so glad I chose to take up the Relax & Breathe Birthing Instructors Course last October. As a counsellor with a passion for supporting women during pregnancy and postnatally, I was delighted to find an opportunity to expand my work into offering these empowering birth classes to women and their birth partners. Jenny and Onie dellivered a thorough and absorbing course that paid attention to a good grounding in our knowledge of birth physiology, before moving on to other elements including movement, massage, deep relaxation techniques and visualisations. The emphasis is on experiential learning so in our small group we practised the relaxation and massage techniques as well as group faciitation skills. The course was relaxed and informal with lots of time built in for questions and interesting, sometimes challenging, discussion.

The final day was well spent on course delivery and promotion which I’m currently finding of great value, as well as the ongoing support from Onie over email for clarifying course content and marketing queries etc.

The assessment elements are thorough and diverse. With the grounding of the course as outlined above, I felt confident to deliver the course to an expecting couple as my case study assessment. The preparation of course notes in advance and feedback from Jenny and Onie meant that I felt sure of my knowledge and resources – and I learned so much from this aspect of the course, it gave me a real sense of myself as an instructor and was a great preparation for delivering the group classes. The couple I worked with really engaged with the course and felt it ‘opened their eyes to new possibilities’ – which I think is just fantastic and at the centre of what Relax & Breathe is about.

Overall, I have been really impressed by this instructors course, and the passion and knowledge shared by Onie and Jenny is really encouraging. I’m currently rolling out classes in East Lothian and truly cannot wait for women and their birth partners to experience all the gains of choosing Relax & Breathe.””

“I completed the 2 day Hands Free Massage workshop at the weekend. Onie was so lovely, patient and explained the techniques really clearly. The course was such alot of fun; we had alot of giggles! I have trained with Onie before I (I completed the Pregnancy Massage course 18 months ago) and I’m already thinking what I’d like to do next! I can’t recommend the training at KnotStressed highly enough. Thank you Onie (and Anne for being a patient ‘body’!).”

“I recently attended Level 1 – Injury Prevention Through Hands Free Massage with Onie at KnotStressed. I found the course extremely useful as a therapist and I took away loads of new techniques. Moreover, Onie was able to suggest new positions to look after myself as a therapist and provide a great massage experience. Onie made the weekend an enjoyable experience and the small groups allowed us to have a nearly one-to-one training session. I highly recommend it!”

“Relax and Sing Baby Massage and Yoga Instructors Training Programme

I attended a 3 day Post Graduate Course earlier this year. What a wonderful course! Thank you!”

“I undertook the injury free prevention training with Onie earlier this year and it was an invaluable experience! There was only two of us and two teachers so we got a lot of attention and adjusting. I found that it opened up my own massage practice and gave me the skills I need to keep my body safe and also opened up my massage repertoire! Onie is a clear and concise teacher and super friendly and experienced so would highly recommend Knotstressed trainings!”

“A huge thank you to Onie for a great weekend on the Hands Free training course recently. 2 days and one amazingly useful set of practical skills later I am now only finding it necessary to use my fingers and fists occasionally, and saving my thumbs from certain damage!
The course was run on a brilliantly informal but informative model, and I much enjoyed it and would recommend to any therapist.”

“I attended the Pregnancy Massage course delivered by Onie at Knot Stressed in Feb this year.
What can I say …It was AMAZING.

Onie is a true expert in this specialised area of massage. At the end of the course I felt I had a better understanding of pregnancy in general and had learned specific techniques for this client group. I am now enjoying these new techniques in my practise in Australia.
I am so glad I was able to attend the course and would highly recommend it.”
— April 2, 2014 | Joyce

“Thanks for another great course Onie. Thoroughly enjoyed the Hand Free Advanced and felt it really built on and consolidated the techniques learnt on the first Hands Free course. It was lovely to feel so relaxed about the learning and practical sessions. I’m enjoying incorporating the work into my massage treatments. Highly recommend these courses and love the small class size which allows for more one to one instruction.”

“I completed the KnotStressed Post-Graduate Pregnancy Massage Training Course this weekend, and it was brilliant. Onie is so knowledgeable, friendly and patient. The course really helped my confidence in treating pregnant clients. The new techniques I was taught can also be used with other clients. I would definately recommend this course, and would like to enrol on the other courses in the future (as well as book myself in for a much needed massage!!).”

“I did the pregnancy massage course with Onie and would recommend it to anyone. It was well-structured but relaxed, and the fact that the group was so small was a huge bonus. I’d been thinking of doing a shorter course elsewhere and am so glad I did this one instead – Onie’s teaching style meant the whole course felt very supportive, and I came away feeling confident to use everything I learnt straight away.”

“I’ve just completed a great weekend course on Advanced Injury preventy through Hands Free Massage with Onie. It’s a lovely venue with a warm welcome and the small class size allows for plenty of attention to everyone. She has a wonderful teaching style which is relaxed, honest and very infomative with lots of humour. A great way to learn. My postural problems have been remedied and I have some great new techniques to play with! I’ll be back when I get the chance, and will recommend you to all my fellow therapists. Thanks Onie, you are definitely in the right job :-)”

“I attended the Injury Prevention Through Hands Free Massage Course last weekend and would highly recommend this course. Onie’s venue at Knotstressed is an ideal environment which puts you at ease as soon as you walk in the door. Onie supplied the materials needed, which removed a lot of stress for me as I was travelling to Edinburgh from Dingwall, no strugggling with massage couches on the train! 🙂 The course is very practical and hands on from the start, and the small numbers attending the course ensured that we had the optimum opportunity to learn and practice the techniques. Onie is a very attentive tutor who demonstrates expert skills in a clear and concise manner as well as addressing any questions you may bring. I chose this course as I love my job as a massage therapist and want to continue this career for many years to come wiithout fear of injury, I feel confident after attending that this is possible and look forward to attending the advanced course in the future.”
— August 26, 2012 | Judith

“I would recommend the Injury Prevention Through Hands Free Massage Workshop to any therapist who is either suffering from the strains of massage work or is worried about their survival within the industry over the long term. The short course is both practical and the techniques within it are adaptable to each individual therapist’s body type and requirements. The course is enjoyable and is taught in an open, relaxed and informal manner. Onie is extremely attentive to the accuracy and detail of the techniques and ensures that all therapists leave with a good understanding and ability to perform them. She also addresses any problems or difficulties therapists are experiencing within the course or with any other massage techniques they are currently using. A great course.”

“I’ve just attended the Injury Prevention through Hands Free Massage course this past weekend and couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Already I have put to use many of the techniques Onie has taught me. My clients have noted a controlled, deeper pressure and my body has already experienced the benefits of working ergonomically (no more aching thumbs!!!). I truly feel that this workshop has added years to my career and taken my therapy to another level. Thank you so much Onie for your wonderful presentation, instruction and guidance! Would recommend this course to every therapist in all massage disciplines for self preservation!”
— August 23, 2012 | Angie Hahn

“I have attended now three courses led by Onie: Pregnancy and Post Natal Massage and the Hands-Free-Massage Course. I definitely can recommend all these!
All courses were a great mixture of theoretical knowledge, practical work and great fun.
Onie knows how to motivate everyone and she really does an excellent job in constructive criticism. She supports everyone in a really good way and is really patient in showing techniques again and again and answering any question.
So if you consider getting more knowledge especially in Pregnancy and Postnatal Massage please visit the courses and if you consider changing the massage style, it is really worth coming to the Hands-free course!
Well done, Onie!”

“Having been on Onie’s pregnancy massage course I would recommend it to any therapist considering pregnancy massage.

A wonderful hands-on (and sometimes hands-free!) course which gave me some useful tools and valuable experience in massaging a pregnant lady. It is a great feeling being able to help someone at such a special time. I know I would have loved a proper massage during my pregnancy to ease my aching back, and it’s awesome to know that I have the skills to make such a difference in these ladies’ lives.

I learned so much on this course and it motivated me to get back into massage at a time when I was feeling quite down-hearted about it. No more!

Thank you KnotStressed, an excellent course!”

“The best massage course I have attended! I highly recommend the Hands Free Massage Course from Onie.
She presented the techniques in a clear and practical approach to our class. As she is not only kind but patient and always mindful how to correct our posture. You only need to ask and she’s there to help you with a lovely heart. Thank you Onie.”

Hands Free Massage Course
“I have just spent an extremely enjoyable and iteresting weekend with Onie and two other therapists. Onie is an excellent teacher – supporting and encouraging me to develop new skills and to adapt my existing techniques which will not only improve the quality of my treatments but help prevent damage to my joints. It has also been very useful to share experiences with other therapists.I left feeling happy and excited about practicing my new ‘moves’ and hopefully will be able to attend the level two course. I would heartily recommend this course – many thanks for a great weekend Onie!”
— September 21, 2011 | Ruth Ferguson

“I highly recommend the Pregnancy Massage course. I’ve had a fantastic 3 days and met lovely people as well as learning heaps! I’d say that the course is a must if you truly want to offer the best you can and tailor your treatments specifically and offer support to your client during this special time of physical and emotional change. The day after I completed the course I had the privilege of massaging a friend at 41 weeks pregnant and felt confident and able to deal with issues as they arose during her treatment, she thoroughly enjoyed her massage and said she felt very safe and cared for. The following morning she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! Within a couple of days following the course I have also used the side lying positioning and techniques with non-pregnant clients to treat low back pain and the feedback has been great!”
— June 22, 2011 | Charlene

“Having just completed the 3 day pregnancy massage course run by Onie, I can highly recommend it to any therapist wanting to widen their skills to work with pregnant woman. I learnt so much from Onie over the 3 days and feel confident that I can now safely and effectively work with pregnant women. I also learned a lot of things that I can use in my work generally for clients who prefer to be in sidelying position. The course was very well run, and had the right balance of theory and practical. The opportunity to work with a pregnant woman on the course was invaluable. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere made me feel at ease and ready to learn. Onie was so encouraging and really helped me to get to grips with the techniques and feel confident. Overall I had a lovely time and can’t wait to do the preparation for birth course in August!”
— June 21, 2011 | Claire Rosie

“Onie’s post-natal massage course was a great experience. The information was all very useful and clearly presented with plenty of hands-on learning. I am looking forward to sharing what i have learned with my clients. Thank you Onie.”

“Any Massage therapists considering future courses both for CPD and injury prevention should consider Onies hands-free/injury prevention workshops. I completed the training this weekend and want to congratulate Onie on a well presented, clear and practical course with lots of hands-on work and new techniques. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and I feel confident that I am now armed (fore-arms obviously with floppy fingers) with revised working practices to minimise strain on my back, arms and fingers particularly my poor thumbs . My husband was delighted to receive a treatment last night for the first time in some months and I am looking forward to integrating forearm work into my practice. take care, Helen x”

“I took Onie’s post natal massage course in March 2011. I enjoyed the course immensely. Onie is so warm and encouraging in her teaching and has a great wealth of experience in this field. She answered my queries and questions, which really helped boost my confidence with the techniques. Onie is a true professional. I would highly recommend this post natal course to anyone wishing to expand their practise to offer massage to women post birth. It is a wonderful addition to the pregnancy massage course which I took with Ronnie and Onie in 2010. Onie’s moves are beautiful and I really can’t wait to take another one of her courses. Thank you Onie, you are a great inspiration to me!”
— March 29, 2011 | Harriet

“I would highly recommend any therapist thinking of working with pregnant women to attend the pregnancy and postnatal courses. They equip you with the knowledge and skills to feel confident working with the women.
I completed the pregnancy course with Ronnie Allan and the postnatal course with Ronnie and Onie.
I think Onie is the perfect person to take over the courses from Ronnie, she is very knowledgeable in this area and enthusiastic in her teaching. Onie has a lovely manner and I came away with some very useful massage techniques and the confidence to offer the massage to postnatal women.”

“I just wanted to write to thank you so much for the course at the weekend. I can honestly say I was overwhelmed with the inspiration the course has provided me with. I think I learned more in the first 2 hours than I hoped I’d learn in the whole weekend. The course has taught me so much and I feel so positive about my future as a massage therapist, especially as I am going to have to rely on it more as a financial income.

You are a fantastic teacher, you have such a calming nature which eases any anxiety or fear you might have prior to, or during the course. You were so positive all weekend even when you were critically analysing our performance. I have never been on a course with such a small number but I absolutely loved the personalised nature of the course. I cannot wait to practice the skills and techniques you taught us.

On a personal note my body has not been this physically relaxed in….years…5 massages in one weekend definitely sorted out a few of my problems. I can’t believe the ROM of motion I achieved, it was like my spine had totally been released, it was amazing and such a good feeling. I cannot thank you enough for bringing hands free massage into my life.”
